A fire in a multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 of Heathrow Airport in London, England on Wednesday is thought to have started in a diesel vehicle and spread to two adjacent cars.
It took four fire engines and 25 firefighters to tackle the blaze which broke out at around 9am.
Explains Matt Butcher, sales & marketing manager for Prosol UK: “Luckily no-one was hurt or injured as a result of the fire which took over an hour for firefighters to bring under control.
“It is incidents like this that remind us of the importance of the Fire Cloak™ fire suppression blanket in containing and mitigating damage to people and property in any suspected vehicle fire, be it an EV or one with an internal combustion engine (ICE).”
Continues Matt: “The Fire Cloak™ has been specifically designed and developed to deprive a vehicle fire of oxygen. It ensures that the fire is contained so that the temperature of the vehicle drops rapidly. During this time, any nearby vehicles and property are also protected until emergency services personnel arrive on the scene.”
Concludes Matt: “Adding a Fire Cloak™ to existing fire safety equipment in car parks is a key consideration for every car park operator. It’s the ideal addition and has the potential to buy valuable time for firefighters and help to save lives in the process.”
