As more and more of us make the switch to electric vehicles, more and more EV charging points are being installed to meet consumer demand. Many of these charging points can be found in retail areas such as shopping centres, supermarket and food & drink outlet car parks – places that are usually heavily populated and, by their very nature, contain multiple vehicles. Fire safety should, therefore, be paramount for the companies that are installing them.
Containing any potential EV fire is critical in such surroundings which is why we’re encouraging EV charging station companies to consider adding Fire Cloak™ electric vehicle fire containment blankets to the fire safety equipment available at every EV charging site.
“EV fire mitigation measures such as the Fire Cloak™ can play a key role in protecting members of the public as well as minimising any damage to surrounding vehicles and property that an EV fire can cause,” explains Matt Butcher.
“Including a Fire Cloak™ in your firefighting arsenal has the real potential to save lives and also give emergency services and firefighting professionals additional time to react and attend an incident and extinguish any fire safely.”
